Admission Requirements

• Submit Application: Prospective students must complete and submit an online application through the University of California Application Portal along with the required application fee. UCR typically accepts applications for fall admission in the fall or winter of the previous year. 
• Transcripts: Applicants must submit official transcripts from all high schools and colleges attended. These transcripts must demonstrate good academic performance, including completion of required courses. 
• Standardized Test Scores: UCR has moved to a test-optional admissions policy, but applicants can still submit their SAT or ACT scores. These results can provide additional context regarding the applicant's academic ability.
• Personal Statement/Essay: Applicants must submit a personal insight essay that describes their personality, experiences, and motivations. These essays are an important part of the application and provide admissions officers with insight about the applicant beyond academic performance.
• Letter of Recommendation: UCR typically requires a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or other person who can evaluate the applicant's character, academic ability, and potential for success in higher education.
• Extracurricular Activities and Achievements: Applicants will be asked to provide information about extracurricular activities, community service, leadership roles, and honors and awards received. This information helps admissions officers evaluate applicants' efforts and impact outside of the classroom.
• Application Deadline: It is important that applicants adhere to the UCR application deadline. If the deadline is missed, your application may not be considered for admission.
